then we decided to get some breakfast. so we went into west yellowstone and found a place that had these stuffed bears. the kids really liked them too.
after breakfest it was off to the park. it was a great trip. we let lex out of his carseat and rolled down the windows so he could see all the animals we passed. he thought that was pretty cool. we saw a waterfall, did a hike (and everytime we got out of the car lex had to push elaina in the stroller. but he wasn't very good at it.. and it got really old. but he still did it.). it was really sad because the first day we were in the park i forgot the camera. :( we did a 2 hour hike to a waterfall. it was really pretty! but with 2 kids...a little tough. but we made it there and back alive.
back at the campground we had a stream going by our tent and the kids loved to throw pinecones in and watch them float away. we had dinner that night and lex roasted hot dogs. right after we were done eating it started raining. it rained every night we were there. but during the day it was great! no rain at all.
elaina has decided she hates camping. heavenly father has a great sense of humor when he decided to send elaina to us. she's the most sweetest, happiest, cutest girl you'll ever meet...but that's just it.. she's VERY much a girl. camping is just not her thing. but she's going to have to get used to it as long as she's living with us because we do it alot. lol she was very unhappy and cold and when the rain started she had had enough. so we went into the tent for the rest of the night. here's some video that we took...
so that night i was woken up by what sounded to me like a can being crunched up. so i got out of bed and opened the door to our tent a little and about 5 yards away was a grizzly bear standing on his hine legs with his front paws on our picnic table eating our garbage we left out when it had started to rain. i was a little freaked out to say the least. by that time of the night both kids were sleeping with us in our bed because they were freezing. it was about 30 degrees that night. but thank goodness they never woke up. cory did though when i zipped up the tent again. he was like.."get back in bed!!!" so i laid there kinda freaking out thinking of the bear that dragged a boy out of his tent and killed him the summer before. but he went away after he had enough of chewing on the garbage and we all went back to sleep. so here's some pictures of what the damage was the next morning.
so the first picture you can see how close the bear was. the 2nd is me showing how the bear was standing and then the can that the bear put teeth marks into. it was a fun night.
