elaina's 5th birthday!!

this year we had her birthday party on her birthday!   we haven't had a friend birthday party since she was 2 just because she didn't want one.  so of course she wanted a  princess party.  she also wanted to do a princess tea party so i turned it into an experience for all the kids that came. 

here's the sign that was on the front door and we had christmas lights hanging around the door too.

this is elaina on the "red carpet" leading up to the door.  i also put torches along the sidewalk to the door.  it turned out pretty cute.  :)

here's what it looked like on the inside where the tea party was held.  she wanted pink and purple crape paper and then i hung some more christmas lights.  for the tea party was had pink lemonade, and served her birthday cake.  i also taught them how to walk like a princess, they made their own crowns, and we talked about how we should act at a tea party.  they loved it.  :)

here's the start of the cake.  i made the mistake of asking elaina what kind of cake she wanted and she said repuzel's tower.  i was like.....how the heck?!?!  so thanks to the internet i found a way to do it.  i started it 3 days before the party so the rice krispies would be hard and i could cover it in fondont.  and i made my own fondant.  it's really easy.  thanks again to the internet!!

so here it is put together for the first time.  i wanted the bottom to be bigger but the cake pan we had was just this size.  it stood up but was starting to fall so i took it back out to decorate it.

here's the finished product!  i'll just say it took a long time.  and i very quickly took a picture of it before it started falling apart.  but it was good enough for a picture!!  :)

a very happy elaina  :)  i held it because it was totally falling apart.  but we got through "happy birthday" and the blowing out of candles.  :)  it was put all together for about a minute and a half.  :)

so pretty much lex missed the whole party.  he stayed upstairs for all of the party but did come down to drink some pink lemonade and eat some frosting.

we also did the girls nails....well we did the boys too.  :)  so here is some of them.

 after the party elaina wanted to make her easy bake cake that she got from kyri.  so lex was excited for everyone to be gone so he could come down and do the cakes with her.

daddy had to work that evening so i took the kids down to cory's work at the nursery and she got to "open" her last gift with daddy. it was int eh back of the van and she didn't know. so we opened the back and there it was! of course she had to ride it right then. she hasn't stopped riding it since.

for her birthday dinner elaina decided to have salad, apples, and bannana's.  i was like....umm..ok.  so here they are sitting at their little table having dinner.  lex just had a hot dog.  :)  it was a great day for elaina and a pretty easy day for mommy too. 

princess festival 2012

every year for the last 3 years i've taken elaina to the princess festival for her birthday.  so the thursday before we got free tickets to go!!  she was so excited.  lex says he wants to go but he wouldn't enjoy it at all.  lol  ally was going to come with us but she needed a break after the trip to page az. and going out and doing things and missing her nap for days.  she was very happy staying home.

she got to ride in a horse drawn carriage this year and it was a really fun ride.  :)  and she got to dance with the princesses.  she was in heaven.  but she was so shy all day but wanted the attention so badly!!

we got her face painted to look like a butterfly and i made her flower crown she wore.  she dressed up like repunzel and wanted flowers in her hair.

we had a couple groups sing happy birthday to her.  and anyone who past her said happy birthday.  she loved it.  :)

at the very end of the day we played in the water fountain.  always one of the highlights for her.  this year she put her head in and got totally soaked!!  we stayed the whole time this year and she even stayed awake on the car ride home!   i guess she's big now  :)

trip to page az.

we went down with cory to page az. because he had a job interview there.  the trip didn't start out very well because ally got sick in the car.  the whole trip she was not very happy unless she had some drugs in her.  she was running a fever and she threw up one more time.  but once we got there grandma and grandpa flindt met us and we stayed in a hotel.  the kids were very excited about that.  for some reason i didn't take very many pictures.  i was enjoying just being with them i guess.  but i did take these of us at the pool. 

we had a great time.  we only stayed the night and the kids were disappointed we couldn't stay longer.  we figured out ally is NOT a good rider in the car on long trips.  i'll just say it was a really long drive home.  :P  but it was worth the trip.

chalk arts festival

they did a chalk art festival at a outdoor mall they have in salt lake city. so we went down with our friend hannah, henry, and charlie and there wasn't much going on. so we just played in the fountain and then rode the train back home. well the next day i really wanted to go check it out so i brought the kids down the day before father's day and we saw some more.  there were hundreds of artists doing drawings.  so here are some of our favs.

after we saw the pictures we went to play in the water fountains.  ally didn't like to get splashed.  lol 

they also had a ton of booths set up so we got a bunch of free things, played a ton of games and hada  really great time.  :)

random pictures of summer

so summer has hit!!   we're so excited!!  for the first week it really threw lex off and by about 3 weeks out of school he asked me when he can go back.  lol  :)  so here's some random pictures of things we've done.

ogden was having an art festival and so the train museum had a free day we went to.  this is us climbing on the trains.

doing the graves

 we went with my aunt connie's family to do the graves for memorial's day.  so here's us at grandpa macfarlane's grave with kaylynn and bruce.  the kids all had flowers to put in at each grave and they really liked that.  :)

 this is uncle dallas's grave.

 this is ally putting flowers on wayne's grave.  he died in world war 2 and his name is on this memorial.  he's my grandpa macfarlane's brother.

 lex is trying to balance the flowers on great-grandma and grandpa's grave.  well..i guess it's his great-great grandparents.

 here we are at grandma and grandpa penners grave with kaylynn.  we put the pedals around for grandma because they were pink.  we also got a pink rose to leave.  by this grave ally just walked up, put the flower in, and walked away because she was like...."are we done yet?"

bruce helped ally walk around the walls by uncle kents grave.  he's so cute with the kids.  :)  it was a fun day with aunt connie.  doug and lydia were there too.  i just didn't get a picture of them for some reason.

lex's kinder graduation

they asked me to do some flower's for the graduations so these are it!!

all the videos i took are too long to put on here but i did take some pictures.  here's lex crossing the stage.  :)  he did a little dance after he shook ms. conrad's hand.

hurray!!  he made it through the year!!  :)

elaina's outta there!!

 elaina had her end of the year preformance for preschool!!  she did such a great job.  :)  most of the videos i took are really long because cory was out of town working this week so i recorded everything for him.  all of elaina's parts are on the long videos.  :(  but they put on a play and elaina was a goat.  she line was "maaa..maaa...  we can make you cheese."  then then she said "lets see what else we can find."  it was really cute because she made her voice sound like a goat while she talked.  lol  :)  then they sang some songs too.  the camera work is really bad because lex and ally both were having a really hard time being good. 

miss kate also had a magican come and preform.he was so great!!  the kids were just dieing laughing and yelling and having such a great time!!  lol.   my friend hannah came and brought her boys to see the show.  it was so much fun for those kids.
