hot air balloon festival 2011

i took the kids out to see the hot air balloons on antelope island again this year. we went a couple years ago with cory and my parents but it was too windy for them to fly.  this year was a lot different.
this picture might just be another picture...but this picture means a lot to the kids and i.  they decided to launch the balloons in another location.  so we walked up the hill to go and watch them because that's the best part....seeing them blow up.  so we walked way up that hill...it's about a 1/2 mile at least.  when we got tot eh top we still couldn't see them.  so we walked along the top of the hill another 1/2 mile or longer.  but there's another hill in the way that's even taller.  so we decided to walk back.  by that time elaina was crying and i was crying her and allison was strapped on me...so my shoudlers and legs were on fire!!!!  by the time we got back to the car i was ticked off at the kids, the balloons, and i was ready to leave.  but just then a balloon came over the hill.  and went right over us.  then 2 more came.  it was very cool.  the kids said hi to the guys in the balloon and they were low enough so they could talk back.

also if you notice what lex has in his arms is fish crackers and his beloved "Mmm-Mmm" his monkey.  this was the last time we would  see him.  i have no idea what happened to him.  i even went back to the island and hiked everywhere we went.  called every place we had been for the next 2 days after...  and he's lost.  so much heartache and tears from both me and lex.
when we got back here they were filling up a balloon (grrr!  should of just stayed!!)  they also had bouce houses we went on, got free snowcones, and  watched a stunt bike show.
with the balloon festival it's also a kite festival.  we didn't stay last year but this time it was just me and the kids...we weren't planning on staying but it just worked out that we did.  it was sooooo awesome!!!!!  i've never seen anything like it before.  and the kids LOVED it!!

we left the festival and the kids wanted to get their jr. ranger badges.  it's a big thing with them right now so we had to do it no matter how tired i was.  but they got them!  :)  way to go guys.
